This site is an attempt to document all the concerts I’ve been to, before I forget them all. I try to include audio, setlists, digital photographs (rarely taken by me) or video with each listing. Mostly so I’ll always have something I can listen to from any Internet connected PC. I try very hard to credit the photographers, tapers, etc, when possible.

If I have a concert listed anywhere on this site that includes audio, please do not download it and burn it as an audio disc, as everything here is encoded to MP3. The audio linked to from my site is meant for streaming only. If you would like a copy of any of the concerts that are tagged with audio, please just email me at whois@spacecaptain.org. I would be glad to send you a copy on CDR (burned correctly via the source .flac or .shn files, with no gaps between songs etc). And this is at no cost to you (the “no catch at all” kind of real, true, free), provided you live in North America. If you’re elsewhere, perhaps we can work something out via FTP (I’ll upload the .flac or .shn files to you).

All of the audio included on this site adheres to the same practices as etree.org’s legal policy - that is to say, live performances by bands/performers that allow taping and trading. This site contains no material by artists who do not approve of the above practices.

I can’t remember every concert I’ve ever been too. Of note:

  • I think my first concert was at my dads pub in Toronto, ON. I forget the bands name. They played The Gambler by Kenny Rogers at my request (made by my parents). I was 5 or 6, I think.
  • My parents also took me to Professor Piano and the Rocking Deltiods, somewhere outdoors in Toronto. I suspect I was between 6 and 9.
  • I know I’m forgetting exactly when and where I went to see El Debarge. It was either at Canada’s Wonderland or Ontario Place, and I was between 5 and 10, I think.
  • I have some recollection of seeing The Parachute Club when I was young. But I can’t remember for sure.
  • I’m almost positive I’ve seen Gowan live, but I don’t remember where, it might have been at Canada’s Wonderland - I wouldn’t have been older than 11
  • I’ve been to several dozen symphonys and operas and I don’t remember the details of any of them
  • I’ve seen many dozens of shows in bars where I didn’t know anyone was playing, have since forgotten the name of the band, never knew the name of the band, never cared to know the name of the band, or have forgotten I was there entirely. As such, I will not document those shows.
